In business, we don’t just deal with customers and leads, the average business also deals with other companies on a regular basis. Sometimes we are contacting them to get supplies, but we could also be dealing with them for other purposes such as legal needs, marketing, or even recruitment. So, we really need to keep track of who we are dealing with, and why. Fortunately, Web Geek’s marketing platform allows you to do just that. We even created a separate section for companies, right inside our contacts area. Today we are going to walk you through that section.

Let’s get started!

To find the company contacts section, we need to navigate on over to contacts in the left-hand sidebar. Then find the company tab just at the top here. Here you will see, a list of companies already in our system. You will also see any contact information we have for those companies. At the top, you can search for a company, by name or email. If we click on one of these companies, let’s say, “test company 2” we will open the listing for that company where we can find more information about them. As you can see, there is currently no information about this company except for the main inquiries email address.

However, at the top of this window, you can see that there is a contact listed for this company, Let’s check this out. Ahh, here we are, my cousin Wendie, she handles IT, at Test Company 2. As you can see, this is a great way to separate general business numbers, from contacts we have within the business. If we have a general inquiry you may want to contact the company itself, but if you have been dealing with a person for a specific issue, you will want to speak to your contact within the company. So, let’s say we had an email in response to a message we sent through to general inquiries, from a new person within the company. As that person is now dealing with our issue, we should probably add in, their contact information.

Well, as it happens, Larrie Ayeye who is Wendi’s brother, just happened to email me this morning regarding a supply contract with Test Company 2. I added him to the contacts when I saw his email but I forgot to add his company in the contact details. So Let’s add him in now, before I forget. Just go to the bottom here, and click add contact. Then we can do a quick search, here he is, so all I have to do is select his name, and click apply. There we go, I now have him listed in the contacts section of Test Company 2, along with Wendi.

But what if you want to add a new company entirely to your contacts? Well, that’s easy too! We just have to go back to our list of companies using the back arrow up here. Then we just click on “new company” on the right-hand side, as you can see this brings up a pop-up window where we can fill out the company’s details. All you have to do is enter the details of the new company and click add company. Then the new company will be visible in the company list.

And that’s all there is to it, now you know how to make the most of the companies section in your contacts area, link contacts with companies, and enter the details of new companies. Now, go ahead and see for yourself just how useful this feature is!
